How to get there by Train and Bus

You can reach Chemnitz easily by train:
1) by Interregio (IR) direct connection from Munich, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Berlin und Rostock
2) by Intercity (IC / ICE) to Leipzig (80 km distant; change to City Expreß)
3) by international express train from Czech Republic or Poland: via Dresden

There are also long distance buses that connect Chemnitz with Russia, Bielorus, Poland and Ukrainia.

From Chemnitz Main Station you may take local bus #41 in direction "Heinersdorf"; for Schloßbergmuseum leave at bus stop "Nordstraße".

You can also walk from Main Station to our museum in about 25 minutes. If you leave the station yy the north (side) entrance you may follow the steet right ahead ("Georgstraße") until it ends at a small lake ("Schloßteich"). Turn right and follow the shore. Soon you can see the museum on top of the hill ("Schloßberg"). Several ways and Stairways lead you up there.

How to get there by car

If you use the motorways A4 or A 72 we recommend exit "Chemnitz-Nord" on A 4.

Click here for an orientation map (63KB)

Follow state road B 95 ("Leipziger Ctraße") to city center. Turn left in direction Hainichen (B 169) and Freiberg (B 173). Continue on this route (first "Winklerstraße", then right turn to "Hechlerstraße") until the road goes down to the lake. Turn left (still on top of the hill!) into "Salzstraße" and you will find our museum in about 200 meters distance. You may leave your car free of charge on the right side of the street. The museum is situated in the centre of a small park behind the old wall.
